Funny, I was just talking about this the other day.
Kids on that show are just that - on a TV show.
Imagine that you were on that show, right now, at your current age and try to tell me SERIOUSLY that it's not the coolest thing you've ever done. And multiply that feeling times one million, because they are 10 years old.
On top of the fact that they've made it this far, they've made it to the temple. They're 3 minutes from GLORY, VICTORY, and a motherfuckin' MOUTAIN BIKE... these kids are quivering with joy and anticipation and sugar. They're also paired with some shmuck that they're never met before - that's another part of it. You have to have a good team. If you're awesome, but your partner sucks, you're still doomed not to make it in time.
I've also seen a lot of short kids waste a lot of time trying to GET the pieces of the monkey, which sucks pretty hard.
The point is, the kids are just too excited to function properly.
Much less assemble a monkey.

Craig,
Chris/Gamblor did not realize you were looking for the directions. I would of course be happy to help you assemble the three pieces of the monkey. If I did not still have nightmares of being on the show and failing when I was 11 years old. Gage I told you not to tell people I was on that stupid show, and yes if they are showing reruns on TV just look for a skinny little kid with braces bigger then his head...they probably have cheese doodles stuck in them....AND YES I could not assemble the stupid monkey, but when in MY DEFENSE THERE IS A TIME CLOCK AND ALL SORTS OF NOISE! And for some reason one night in a drunken confession I told Gage that I was on the show, and my friends make fun of me for it to this day. I HATE THAT GOD DAMN MONKEY, but worst of all I never got to make my way into the pit of despair.

Come Elyse Double Dare coined that one first....but it was a much better show....
The festival last time was $25 with additional build $10 each....but I will let a marshall confirm that
HOWEVER I do know NPCing is $15 for a full build blanket
Wally is searching for people on a different forum post...

With the event being combat-based (or so it seems from the IG posts), will the period change and reset at 6:00, or will the whole event be one period, as a Festival normally is?

If someone is NPCing for the entire festival, are they able to learn any skills as their PC, or, in order to do so, must they only NPC for two periods and play their PC for one period in order to learn skills?

The normal rule is that you must play your character at some point in order to learn skills, self-taught or otherwise.

Well, I tend to think that a more appropriate term for it is "Conflict" based, since there will be a lot of other things to do besides fighting :)
It's going to be one period just like every other festival is.

If you NPC for an event/festival, you can't play your PC.

So if you volunteered to NPC the event it means your PC either couldnt make it to the battle or decided to save his own skin, like mine did.
Which means you can't learn anything new unless there are exceptions being made for the NPCs.

I know this has been discussed, but I'm not sure it ever got an answer. How much would the festival cost if you bought all build, for two characters. I'm not sure what all the costs are.

The Banquet (which is an OOG event) and the Moresca Ball (which was specifically because it was a non-combat event, and we didn't want people attempting to learn Incap or Incinerate at a masquerade ball...) were exceptions. Any other learning of skills should be IG, which would require you to be there.
For self-taught skills, you also need to play, or else one can just sit back and self-learn skills & points for several years w/o every actually getting involved in RP, which defeats the purpose of a RP-based game.

25 for a one day event, option to purchase up to +3 build at 10$ each.
For a second character it would be 1/2 price off the total.
