Now that we're not an explorer post, it's usually,
"I'm going out of town for the weekend."
No further explanation is ever given.

Granted, my boss is Jess' mom, so I just need to worry about my coworkers and underlings.

Hmmmm One time I let someone I know about these "role-playing weekends" I would go on, and he got really silent for a minute, then replied...

"Doesn't that get pretty kinky?"

To which I blinked a few times in confusion and said "What do you mean?"

He almost nudge nudginly added "You know, dressing up, the handcuffs, stuff like that."

Yeah, He though I went to fetish conventions.

Now I just either say camping, improv, or in the case of conventions I say Games conventions, all kinds of games, and though I throw in Role-playing somewhere between video games and board games, then stress the poker tournaments, usually they go away imagining me playing some kind of computer game with a bunch of other people for the weekend.  Better to be thought a computer nerd than a sex-addict in my profession.

Honestly it took a lot of talking to convince my parents when I first started going that it wasn't an orgy, and I wasn't going to be taken advantage of and even longer to convince them that I wasn't involved in some sort of cult.  Now while the family knows what I do, we try not to mention it to the extended family... :P  Hence camping

Playing with fire is bad for those who burn themselves.  For the rest of us, it is a very great pleasure.

all of my classmates and teachers in college knew, and talked about it often, when we got a new teacher for 5 months he thought I was in a cult. He finally asked one of my friends if I was and she of course said yes and added on to it, so for another 2 months he was afraid I was going to bring punch to class. It was very amusing.
