I'm curious because I am interested in getting a tattoo myself but how many of you have tats? Pics would be cool if you have any.

I have one. The guy who did it swore I would want more but I have trouble thinking of *where* else I would want one. What are you thinking of getting?

Talk to Judge.

Edit, although yes, I have one.  There aren't too many pictures of me shirtless, however.  Planning on getting at least one or two more.

As my sister has always said, they are referred to as Tattoos, plural. Anyone who has just one either hasn't figured out what they want for another, or has a tramp stamp.

None, never plan on getting one, and would dearly like to die with the same number of holes in my body with which I entered this world.  FWIW, I only wear jewelry at KR.  I'm probably the other end of the curve.  :)

i have 13 of them and pics of several are in the picture gallerys here on the KR sites.

before yu get one know that it feels like a loud moving bee sting on your skin and afterwards it feels like a sunburn.

also getting rid of a tattoo is more painful and expensive than getting rid of a spouse. so make SURE beyond ALL doubt that you WILL want to have that tattoo on you 50 years from now. so choose wisely

I've long been toying with the idea of getting a red D20 on the outside of my left ankle, but then there's that whole "can't be buried in a jewish cemetary with tattoos" thing.

Plus I don't think i want the requisite matching "DORK" tattoo on my forehead :-P.

I have 2 tattoos... no pics of just them, but I can easily post them up if needed.  I'm sure you have heard all the warnings and advice from your friends and folks... so I won't lecture you.  I just want to know what are you looking to get and how much you looking to spend?

Urban Myth, actually.  Unless you're talking Conservative or Hassidic (and then what are the odds you would be larping?  Or even considering a tattoo?).  I was under the same assumption until my girlfriend clarified it for me.

I am, in fact, Conservative, by familial ties (and funeral plots) if not by actual practice (especially since, as a matter of fact, I not-infrequently attend Orthodox services).

There is nothing in the Torah prohibiting tattoos, thus they are allowed.  Would be one heck of a can of worms if ANY camp survivor was denied burial in a Jewish cemetary due to possessing a tattoo.  I'd really like to be a fly on the wall when the authorities tried to explain that.  Montifiore Cemetary, in Elkins Park/Jenkintown, is the final resting place of many Orthodox Jews and I know of those buried there having them.

BACK TO THE TOPIC OF TATTOOS...

Does anyone here do Henna tattoos?  I was hoping maybe for some characters, they would wear/have tattoos for their characters.  I like the henna as it can be worn for only a few days (or if you work in an office like mine), worn and then washed immediately off using special soaps and such so the office folks don't get too upset.

I actually have a few amateur henna sets at home that haven't been seeing any use. I wouldn't claim to be an expert, but I am an artist, and my NPC make-up jobs at least have gotten rave reviews... if no one more qualified than I steps up to the plate, maybe I could take a stab at it for you?

uhhh. Not quite sure 'bout the reaction pic but it is still quite cute. The tattoo I want would be smaller to midsize wings at my back. The design is complicated so I'd have to redesign it.

the back is a relatively easy place to get a tattoo upon. the skin is thicker than most other places and there are much fewer pain specific nerve endings. especially at the upperback/shoulderblade area

Yes.  I actually do Henna,  and it's the reason i'll never get perm. tattoos.  It takes a bit of time, but you can generally get a weekend and mabye a day out of it.  I can personally vouche that it will hold up for at least two nights of intense raving!  And I think you sweat far more from raving than larping.  (Then again I play casters so I don't know about line fighters.)  The powder for it is really cheap,  and there are some places that you can also get henna "stamps"  to just powder over your skin for quick designs.

I'd have to beg to differ.  My shoulder tattoo was the most painful tattoo I've had, and I'm sure at least a few others could attest to it.  Everyone that I have ever accompanied to a back tattoo also had the same issue.  Just UNDER the shoulder blade however isn't that bad though.

i have a pair of tattered wings on my shoulder blades. took me 4.5 hours to get done. cried halfway through despite my high tolerance of pain. By far the most painful out of all 7 of my tattoos.

Gus is obviously a professional :-).

I have two Henna sets... one thats a sort of air-brush stencil thing, and the other thats proper powder mix classic freehand henna.

Since judging by the PMs I'm getting there seems to be some interest, I will be attempting Henna tattoos on Friday before lay-on, probably around logistics (or wherever else i can find decent lighting). (Unless you were planning on doing it, Gus?)

Tips will be unnecessary but always appreciated :-D

I may be one with such interest! I'd be willing to tip too.

I am not worried about the pain (too much). My main problem will be saving up for the money because I want a really detailed tattoo and plan to invest in a good artist. Since it's permanent I want the best for my buck.

i had the same money problem when i went to get my wings done. everywhere i went wanted to charge me like $500 plus. what i ended up doing is looking into some good artists around the area at tattoo shops that were offering an all you can sit deal. If you think you would rather sit through the pain all at once instead of going back in sessions, i would suggest looking into that. It's better financially and I paid only $200 for mine. The way it worked was you pick one big piece you would want to get done (like a sleeve, back piece, leg piece, etc.) and you have from the time the shop opens til closing to get it finished. So i saved myself a good 3 levels in build :-P
