I question how taking Anoch will be seen as something "that will give the enemy some indication that we know something that they do not".
Anoch is a symbol, much like how Alieander and the Black Keep are. It is a place of study and learning for many, and holds special significance to even more people.
The only thing that taking Anoch will show is we want more "symbols" to sway the populace.
On top of that, Anoch is a stronghold due to the natural barriers protecting it and hard time getting a full military force to it. Strategically it is good to take and hold it for the tactical advantage it holds, as well as the knowledge there.
