Sci-fi larping guns

Some of us have modded Nerf Maverick's that cost exactly 3 cents. Doing your own mods really isn't that expensive (changing the outward appearance of the gun other than painting it I can't personally speak for, but as for the innards), all you need is 3 pennies, a Phillips head  screwdriver and an exacto knife.

While I have found a number of these other larps, I wouldn't feel comfy posting them here.  This forum is dedicated to KR after all.  ;)  No need to post competition here.  Though I am vastly interested in trying some new genres of other things for a change of pace now and then.

I just found it fun to find new ways that people modify, create, change toys and other stuff into new things.  Like how plumbing supplies and latex now become cool weapons for LARP.  Or how nerf guns can be made into costume props from fav movies.  Or how strobe lights and streams of water can make cool SFX.

Now I know KR doesn't allow nerf for archery, and I have to FOIG if bucaneers/pirates/pc from coastal towns ever heard of or use pistols... but it be cool if we get some flintlock pistol action in KR.

Just as a side note, Nerf guns are fine and dandy, but in New Jersey an Air-Soft gun seems to fit within the statutory definition of a firearm (firing solid ammunition less than 5/8 of an inch in diameter with force capable of injuring a person) meaning you need a permit to carry one, so if you bring one to Sac and are seen by a law enforcement officer (i.e. me) you might end up in trouble.  Besides, I don't think they could possibly fit in-game.

That's air-soft guns, the ones that use compressed air to fire little plastic pellets, not Nerf guns.  Nerf guns would just be silly ???.

P.S.: I got all paranoid abotu my tone after the last message, it's not like I am a cop (I'm an Assistant Prosecutor) or I go around arresting people, I just try to stay out of situations where I'm stuck watching something illegal ... it creates an ethical dillemna, more so than for others.

I can confirm that Air Soft guns are illegal in NJ.  We've had issues at conventions / Hotel LARPs with them, even when they were not in a public area.

They're definitely legal in PAAAAAA, I've had airsoft fights on friends' lawns in summer time. It was really fun, the only one that actually hurt was an airsoft shotgun fired point-blank at my leg. It caused a welt, but all the other shots didn't really do much. It really depends on the quality of the gun. Most of the mid-price guns don't hurt really.  :-X
