The first movie looks about on par with the first book:

A steaming pile of horse manure.

Don't get me wrong, the books began to improve after that one (and actually got good for Legends and afterwards), but let's face it, the first book was HORRIBLE.  Even the authors admitted it. 

And we can all be honest, all other fantasy works of the past few decades are utter rubbish when compared to A Song of Ice and Fire.

PS: No matter how raspy he makes his voice, there is no f'ing way Jack Bauer can pull off Raistlin.  Seriously, I would have gone with Edward Norton.  Disbelievers, watch Kingdom of Heaven.
