Nalick, I can assure you that Cyan took the direction much too far. The Count instructed the groups to present a strong front and to not cow when they made threats. He did not instruct us bring them any harm. They were only emissaries, so threatening them personally would have accomplished nothing.

I confirm what Owen stated, as I was in the same meeting with His Grace that Cyan was.

Apologies for my late response Lady Heimdell,
The envoys claimed they were searching for a person missing in the demon burrows. They were rather unwlling to say more than repeat this excuse over and over. Much of our company was spent pulling apart this excuse, and I'd rather give their explanation all the barring it had on the negotiations by not mentioning it again, but you asked that I leave personal opinions out of it.
The three groups came in, they were offered both kindness and shows of strength, some more enthusiastic than others.
It was made clear to the envoys that Kormyre was not pleased by their unexplained advance into what is our territory, they were informed that it was likely soldiers would be sent to assist them in their efforts, and since it was Kormyrian territory they didn't get a say in if whether we would or would not park an army right next to their camp. It was proposed that if they wished to assist Kormyre in clearing the demon burrows they could and overland trade routes could be established. It was communicated over the first two groups that it was in their best interest to work with us, that they would profit more by having us as ally and not enemy.
Thanks to the last group we gave them a time limit of 3 months to finish their business and pick up and leave, or [strike]come up with a better lie[/strike] have more compelling reason to stay. If within 3 months they were not gone, we would be talking again and less friendly, and considering how unfriendly we were at the end there, probably enough to give them pause.
And then Damian shot a guy, which you and I discussed the ramifications of that. Assuming no one in Coast Haven is mad is dead, which is pretty likely they will in fact take the message in ways they wouldn't otherwise have. He also lied to everyone, used that as a cover to infiltrate the meeting, and shot someone. I assume there was some level of Kormyre law violated there, but there are people who will decide his fate that aren't me.
